Invitation

As all of us are aware, one of the important objectives of the Church is to greatly increase the number of people actively involved in family history worldwide. The Church would also like to make everyone’s family history journey easier, more efficient, and more enjoyable. To help facilitate this work in our ward, we, together with Amy VanWoerkom (representing the Relief Society presidency), Dan Richards (representing the Elders Quorum presidency) along with Laurel McFarland, Bill and Elaine Resare have been asked to assist as Temple and Family History Consultants. We are further assisted by our ward YM and YW leaders. We serve as “librarians” in identifying sources that ward members can utilize in working toward the above goal.

The Gathering of Israel

In March, 1842, Joseph Smith wrote the inspired thirteen Articles of Faith of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in which the tenth Article proclaims, “We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.” To add current context President Nelson has stated that this gathering on both sides of the veil is “the greatest challenge, the greatest cause, and the greatest work on earth today.” This document describes how the Gathering of Israel is unfolding across the world and we encourage members of our stake to play an integral role in this work.
